Glossary
The words px uses.
Defined once, so a person and an assistant get the same answer. Every definition describes px as it is.
In px
What the app calls things.
- Direction
The one thing today should be, decided each morning across Move, Mind and Fuel, with the reason attached. Your Direction is set before you wake, from your night, your yesterday, your calendar and your pursuit, and it changes when something changes overnight.
- Your pursuit
What you are chasing: a race, a comeback, more energy for your kids. px builds the plan back from it in the first conversation and keeps building toward it every morning after.
- Move
Training in px. Sessions written for you, every exercise on video, placed around your calendar and read against the day you are having. Slept well with a clear week? Push. Short night? It eases off and tells you why.
- Mind
Calm, placed where it counts. Guided meditation and breathwork chosen for the day and timed to your week, from five minutes to forty-five.
- Fuel
Food in px. Meals that match the work, built around how you already eat, with recipes in cook mode and logging by barcode or photo. A bigger session means more fuel.
- One coach
The idea px is built on. Move, Mind and Fuel are decided together by one coach, not three apps, so your training changes what you eat and last night’s sleep changes today’s session.
- Meet px
The first conversation. Spoken, with subtitles. Your goal, your injuries, your time. px builds the plan from it.
- Ask px
The coach inside px, by text or voice, at any hour. It knows your training, sleep, food and goals, so it can build a session, rebuild one mid-workout, answer a question, log a meal or change the plan. When a question needs a person, it hands you to one.
- Your normal
Your own baseline, learned in the first week and updated from then on. Every reading in px is set against your normal, not an average person’s, so a short night is short by your standards.
- px Score
One daily number from your recent training load, sleep quality, HRV where available and how you say you feel, shown against your normal. When the data cannot carry a number, px shows a gap rather than a guess.
- A gap, never a guess
What px does when a wearable has not synced or a log is missing. It uses what it has, tells you which inputs are missing and asks you for the rest. It never fills the blank with an estimate.
- Pairs
One person you pick. You each see the days the other shows up, and nothing else.
- Circles
Friends or a team, training alongside each other. Standings in bands, never ranks, and only once five people have joined.
- A person on the team
When a question needs a human, px hands you to someone on the px team, usually within one business day. Software sets the day; a person is one tap away.
- Apps and devices
The 23 connections px reads, plus Apple Health and Google Health Connect: Garmin, Oura, WHOOP, Fitbit, Polar and more. Or just your phone.
- Seats and member code
The two ways an organisation runs px. Seats are invoiced annually and the organisation decides who it covers. A member code lets people join at a reduced rate they pay themselves. Either way, the organisation sees how many seats are in use and nothing about any person.
In coaching
The terms behind the decisions.
- HRV
Heart rate variability: the small changes in time between one heartbeat and the next. Read against your own normal over days, not on its own, it says something about how much your body is carrying. One low morning is not a reason to skip.
- Training load
The work you have done recently, taken together: what you did, for how long and how hard. When three days of load outpace your recovery, today goes easy and the hard session moves.
- Rest day
A day the plan asks for less, on purpose. In px it is a decision with a reason, placed where your readings and your week say it belongs, not a gap you feel guilty about.
- Consistency
Showing up more days than not, over months. px is built for it: nothing to catch up on after a missed week, the smallest thing that works on a full day, and the reason attached so the plan is one you keep.
The longer reads are on px Insights: writing on how to train, rest, eat and think, from the people who make px.
